Alaska Alimony Laws and Spousal Support

The Court may award spousal support, or alimony, to either spouse in an Alaska Divorce case and will consider the following factors:

• the length of marriage;

• the position in life of the parties during marriage;

• the age and health of the parties;

• the earning capacity of each spouse;

• the financial condition of each spouse;

• the parties conduct regarding their assets;

• the division of the spouse's property; and

• all other relevant factors. Non-monetary contributions to the marriage and marital fault may also be considered.
